Study on residual strength prediction of buried PE gas pipelines with defects

Abstract:To investigate the effects of diferent types of defects onthe residual strength of PE gas pipelines,specimens with flat-botomed square defects and flat-botomedcylindrical defects were prepared,and tensile tests were conducted ona universal testing machine to study the impacts of defect length,width,depth and other factors on theirresidual strength respectively.The results showed that there existed critical values forthe influence of the geometric dimensions of the two types of defects on the strength;under the same geometric dimensions,flat-bottomed square defects hada greater impactonthe strength compared with flat-botomed cylindrical defects.Theresearch results provide a reference for the fitness-for-service evaluation of in-service PE gas pipelines.

目前输送天然气的管道主要包括金属管道和非金属管道,而非金属管道主要以聚乙烯(PE)为原料[1-2],PE管道是用耐开裂性更好的专用料制备而成,被称为耐快速裂纹增长的压力管道专用料[3]采用由共聚合和相对分子质量分布双峰工艺合成的高密度PE,其具有很多优势,如良好的韧性、耐腐蚀、耐低温、质量轻、抗震性能好、质量可靠等优点,已广泛应用于城镇燃气管网建设中[46],过去10年,70% 以上天然气管道采用PE管材,未来在城市中压管道建设中,PE管道将占更大的比重,可能用于压力级别更高的燃气管道中。(剩余3860字)
