Preparation and adsorption performance of graphene oxide composite materials for chemical and pharmaceutical wastewater

Abstract:Graphene oxidecomposites exhibit prominent purification potential inthe advanced treatment of chemical and pharmaceutical wastewater,benefiting from the high specific surface area and tunable functional groups endowed by multi-dimensional nanoskeletons.In this study,a graphene oxide- Fe3O4 magnetic composite structure was precisely constructed via a co-precipitation route,and the synergistic capture laws of the composite for typical organic pollutants and heavy metal ions such as Pb2+ , Hg2+ and Cd2+ in simulated wastewater were systematically investigated.Theresultsshowed thatthe magnetic adsorbentcouldachieverapidand eficientremoval of target polutants at low temperatures and within the conventional pH range,with the removal rates of lead,mercury and cadmium reaching 98% , 94% and 92% respectively. The material could complete solid-liquid separation rapidly under the action of an external magnetic field and exhibited excellnt cyclic regeneration performance,which provides a novel polltantremoval strategywith theadvantages of high eficiency,sustainabilityand easyrecovery forwastewater treatment.
