Research on the fabrication and application effect of a stable composite elastic occlusal splint

Abstract:Toaddress the problemsof poor stabilityand comfortof traditional dental occlusalsplints,this paper proposes the preparation of a stable occlusal splint made of composite elastic materials.The experiment first optimized theratioof the elastomer,thenstudied thepropertiesof the elastomer,and finalyfabricatedthe stable occlusal splint using the elastomeras theraw material and investigated its clinicalapplication efect.Theresultsshow that the elastomer prepared when the mass ratio of zinc manganese sulfide ( ZnS:Mn2+ )to polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is 4÷10 has the best performance.At this ratio,the elastic modulus of the elastomer is about 1 MP a ,the maximum deformation exceeds 80% ,the wear rate is about 0.15mm2 ,and the surface contact angle exceeds 110∘ : after soaking in artificial saliva at 37∘C for 15 days,the dissolution rate is about 0.1% ,and it has no effect on cell proliferation when co-cultured with cells,showing excellent overall performance,better practicabilityand long-term stability.Whenthe stableoclusal splint madeofthe elastomer material isusedin clinical treatment,its therapeutic effct and painrelief effctaresignificantlybeter than thoseofthetraditionalPETG material,achieving good clinical therapeutic results.
