Analysis of melt rheological behavior and research on its influencing factors in microcellular plastic extrusion molding

Abstract:To accurately control the die swelland dimensional deviation in theextrusion molding of PVC trunking, industrial profile extrusion was taken as the research object.Through the reverse extrusion simulation method based on Polyflow software,the influence mechanisms of viscosity,extrusion rate and die lengthon product qualitywere analyzed,and technical measures such asusing the power-law constitutive model to describe melt rheological behavior,adaptive mesh remeshing to ensure numerical stability,and“swell pre-compensation”die geometry inversion were proposed.The research results show that high viscosity and high rate significantly aggravate dieswell with an increase of 22% and 18% respectively,and increasing the die length to 3O mm can reduce the swell ratio by 25% : Reverse simulation effectivelyofsetselasticrecoveryand thermal shrinkage bypre-shrinking thedieprofile(wal thickness 1.3 mm vs product 1.5mm ),realizing high-fidelity molding of the cross-section.This method is not only applicable to PVC trunking,but also can be extended to the extrusion of biomedical microstructures such as PLA/ PCL,providing a mold design mode for the continuous manufacturing of high-precision medical devices.
