Observation on the Eficacy of Auricular Acupressure in Treating Sleep Disorders Among HIV-infected Patients

AbstractObjective:To explore the clinical eficacyof traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)auricularacupressure intreating sleepdisordersamongpatientsinfectedwiththehumanimmunodeficiencyvirus(HV).Methods:Atotalof396HIV-infectedpatientswithslepdisorders whowereadmited totheDepartmentofInfectious Diseases,FujianBranchofShanghaiSixthPeople's Hospital,fromFebruaryO3toJanuary25wereselectedassudyparticipantsAccordingtoteadomnumbertableethod, theywere divided intoacontrolgroupandanobservationgroup,with198casesineachgroup.Thecontrolgroupreceivedroutine nursingcare,whiletheobservationgroupreceivedauricularacupressuretherapyinaddition toroutinecare.ThePitsburghSleep Quality Index(PSQI)was used tocompare sleepquality between the two groups.The TCM syndrome score was used to evaluate symptom improvement,andthe Simplified Chinese version of the Medical Outcomes Study HIV Health Survey(MOS-HIV)was used to assessqualityof ifebeforeandafterinterventionResults:Afterintervention,thesoresofmajorsymptomssuchasecessivedreaming,dinesandhdistensionasywakeningaftespalpitationsandforgefulnsandrstlessigiicantlydecreased in both groups,with significantly lower scores in the observation group than in the control group( P<0.05 ). PSQI scores in the observation group were also significantly lower than those in the control group( P<0.05) . Inaddition,physical function,ealthperceptioncognitivefunction,andemotionalfuctionscoreswere higherintheobservationgroupcomparedwith the control group,and the differences were statisticallysignificant( P<0.05) .Conclusion:TCM auricular acupressure can effectively promotesymptomimprovementinHV-infectedpatintswithsleepdisorders,hancesleepqualityandimproveoveal quality of life.
