Effects of Clonazepam Combined with Electroencephalographic Biofeedback onSleep Disorders in Patientswith Schizophrenia

AbstractObjective:Toanalyzetheclinicalvalueofclonazepamcombinedwithelectroencephalographic(EEG)biofeedbackin thetreatmentofschizopheniapatientswithcomorbid sleepdisorders.Methods:Atotalof11Opatientswithschizophreniaand sleepdisorders who weretreatedat Xianyue Hospitalof Xiamen from March 2023 to March 2025wereselectedas studyparticipants.According totherandomnumbertablemethod,theyweredividedintoacontrol groupandanobservationgroup,with55cases ineach.Thecontrolgroupreceivedoral clonazepam treatment,whiletheobservation groupreceivedcombined EEGbiofedback therapy.The Pitsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)wasused tocompare sleep quality between the two groups.The Athens Insomnia Scale(AIS)wasused to assessimprovements in insomniasymptoms,and the Positiveand Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS)was used to evaluate changes in psychiatric symptoms.Brain functional status—including brain energy consumption, drowsiness,andbrainfatigue—wasasessedusingamultifunctionalcombined monitorTheincidenceofadversereactions was also comparedbetweenthetwogroups.Results:Before treatment,there werenosignificant diferences betwenthetogroups insleep quality,psychiatric symptoms,or brain function indicators( P>0.05 ).After treatment,PSQI and AIS scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group,indicating better sleep quality( P<0.05 ). PANSS scores in the observationgroupweresignificantlylowerthanthoseinthecontrolgroup,andbainenergyconsumption,drowsiness,andbainfatigue scores were also markedly lower( P<0.05 ). There was no significant increase in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups( P>0.05 ). Conclusion: Clonazepam combined with EEG biofeedback therapy can significantly improve sleep quality,allviatepschoticsymptoms,ndehancebraifunctioninpatintswithszopheniandcomorbidsleepdisodes.he treatment demonstrates good tolerability,high safety,and strong clinical applicability.
