Effects of Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Combined with Occupational and Recreational Art Therapy on Sleep in Patients with Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder

AbstractObjective：Toexploretheeffectsofrehabilitationtherapyinvolvingrepetivetranscranial magneticstimulation（rTMS）combinedwithoccupationalandrecreationalpaintingonsleepqualityinpatientswithschizophreniaand bipolar disorder.Methods：Atotalof9O patients with schizophreniaorbipolar disorderadmited to Xiamen Xianyue Hospital from June 2023 to June 2O25were selectedas the studysubjects anddividedintoacontrol groupandanobservation group usingarandom numbertablemethod，with45patientsineachgroup.Thecontrolgroupreceivedpharmacologicaltreatment，hilethebervation groupunderwentrTMScombinedwithoccupationalandrecreationalarttherapyinaddition topharmacological treatment.he Pitsburg SleepQuality Index（PSQI）wasused tocomparethechanges insleepquality beforeandafterintervention inboth groups.The Epworth Slepiness Scale（ESS）wasusedtocompare daytimesleepinessof thetwo groups，theAthens Insomnia Scale （AIS）wasusedtocomparetheimprovementefectof insomniasymptomsinbothgroups，theInventoryforPsychiatricRehabilitation（IPROS）wasused toasess thementalstateofboth groups，andtheSocial DisabilityScreeningSchedule（SDSS）wasused to evaluateheimprovementofsocialfunctionResults：Aterintervention，theSQIscore，ESSore，ISsore，ROSoead SDSS score intheobservation groupwere significantlylowerthanthose inthecontrolgroup，andthediferences betwee hetwo groups were statistically significant （ P<0.05 ）. Conclusion：The rehabilitation therapy using rTMS combined with occupational and recreationalarttherapycan improve sleepqualityand mental status inpatientswith schizophrenia and bipolardisorder.
