Value of Overnight Long-term Sleep Electroencephalography in the Diagnosis， Treatment，andPrognosisofSleep-relatedEpilepsyin Children

AbstractObjective：Toexploretheclinicalvalueofovernightlong-termsleepelectroencephalography（EEG）inthediagnosis， treatment，andprognosisof sleep-relatedepilepsy（SRE）inchildren.Methods：Atotalof 65childrenwithSREadmited tothe DepartmentofPediatricsofthe Second HospitalofSanming CityfromJanuary202OtoSeptember2O25wereenrolled.Allpatients underwentovernightlong-term sleepEEG monitoring（8-10h，coveringacomplete sleepcycle）androutine EEGexamination.The detectionrateofepileptiform dischargesandtheacuracyofseizuretypelocalization werecomparedbetwenthetwoEEGmodalities.The corelationsbetween sleepcyclecharacteristicsand sleepstructure parameters obtained fromovernightlong-term sleep EEG monitoringandclinical effcacyand prognosis were analyzed.Results：Overnightlong-termslpEEGwassuperiortoroutine EEG in improving the detection rate of epileptiform discharges and the accuracy of seizure type localization（ P<0.05 ）. The discharge frequency during N2-N3 stages was higher than that during the REM stage（ P<0.05 ）. Significant differences were observedinsleepefciency，proportionofN3stage，sleplatencyandnumberofawakeningsamongchildenwithdifrentprogoses （ P<0.05 ）.The group with isolated epileptiform discharges showed the highest total treatment efectivenessrate，while the group withepileptifordischargesaompanedbyurstsuppesionwavessowedthelowest；similalyteisolatedepileptifordischarge grouphadthe highestrateof good prognosis，whereasnochildrenintheburst-suppresiongroupachievedagood prognosis，and the differences among the three groups were statistically significant（ P<0.05 ）. Conclusion： Overnight long-term sleep EEGcan improve diagnostic accuracyforSREbycomprehensivelycapturingslep-cycle-related epileptiform discharges and sleep structurecharacteristics.Its monitoring indicators providereliableevidencefor evaluating therapeutic eficacyand predicting prognosis.
