Analysis of the Current Situation and Strategies for Chinese-English Translation of Tobacco Terminology

Abstract: This paper applies Skopos Theory to analyze Chinese-English tobacco terminology translation, identifying three key issues: imprecise technical terms, fragmented cultural imagery, and non-compliant regulatory terms. It proposes a tripartite solution: standardizing technical terms, compensating cultural terms, and aligning regulatory terms internationally. Comparative analysis of corporate documents, national standards, and global regulations demonstrates Skopos Theory's efficacy in guiding specialized translation, offering theoretical and practical insights for tobacco terminology management and cross-cultural communication.
