English Translation and Standardized Dissemination of Maritime Terminology in Museums of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Based on “termonline”//WU Binfeng， CHEN Lili， ZHANG Haoyue

Abstract： The maritime exhibition texts in museums bear the important mission of narrating China's maritime stories and inheriting maritime civilization to the public and even the world. Based on the “termonline” platform， this paper systematically reviews， analyzes， and discusses the current state of English translations of maritime terminology in the museum exhibition texts of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area， focusing on six aspects： ship types， onboard timekeeping tools， shipbuilding and repair， maritime personnel， ship structures， and ports. The research results indicate that translations of some maritime terms still suffer from issues such as inconsistent standards， diverse translated names， and insufficient transmission of cultural connotations， which hinder the maximization of communication effectiveness. Improving the translation quality and standardized dissemination of maritime terminology in museums can not only enhance the international narrative capacity of museums and strengthen cultural soft power but also serve as a strategic initiative to actively integrate into the global maritime discourse system and seize the initiative in cultural dissemination. Meanwhile， this research can expand the application boundaries of terminology and translation studies， promoting interdisciplinary research.
