Establishing a Normative Framework for Dunhuang Cultural Terminology Translation: Study Based on Communicative Action Theory//CHONG Tianlin, BAI Mei

Abstract: Dunhuang cultural terminology translation faces significant challenges including theoretical inadequacy and lack of standardized norms. This study introduces Habermas's communicative action theory, reconceptualizing translation as a communicative act aimed at “reaching understanding.” Based on this theoretical foundation, we construct a tripartite normative framework comprising textual norms, professional norms, and ethical norms for Dunhuang cultural terminology translation. Textual norms ensure truthfulness in terminological knowledge transmission, professional norms guarantee rightness in translation processes, and ethical norms emphasize sincerity in cultural dissemination.
