Abstract： Cultural terms with Chinese characteristics serve as linguistic embodiments of the essence of Chinese civilization， integrating both socialist advanced culture and traditional cultural heritage. With the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence （AI） and large language models （LLMs）， new challenges have emerged in the translation and dissemination of these terms—particularly concerning the decontextualized mistranslation of culturally loaded expressions. Multimodal LLMs further complicate the cross-cultural communication of such concepts. Grounded in translation studies， terminology science， and multimodal discourse analysis， this article examines three key issues in multimodal translation collaboration for Chinese cultural terms： decontextualized mistranslation by LLMs， inconsistent application of official translation standards across modalities， and decoding irregularities during the cross-cultural transmission of contemporary terminology. In response， a “four-dimensional collaborative model” is proposed. By emphasizing audience reception and culturally adaptive communication strategies， this study offers approaches to mitigate AI-related translation challenges in the new era， thereby contributing to both theoretical discourse and practical efforts aimed at enhancing China’s cultural soft power.
