Discussion on Standardization of the Translation of Terminology Applied in CAAC Regulations and Normative Documents//WENG Xiaowen

Abstract: The standardization of the translation of terminology used in civil aviation regulations serves to advance the internationalization of the regulations, while simultaneously providing a reference for the translation of analogous terms. Through an analysis of terminology, we discovered that a significant number of new expressions have emerged in CAAC and normative documents, yet standardized English translations remain lacking. In light of the aforementioned analysis, this paper puts forth three standards for terminology translation: Faithfulness, Expressiveness and Aesthetic, in an attempt to address the translation of terms with Chinese characteristics in CAAC regulations and normative documents. This will enhance the communicative effectiveness and facilitate the international dissemination of such terms, thereby reinforcing China's international discourse power.
