Abstract: Professional degree postgraduate education undertakes the crucial mission of cultivating high-level applied professionals and serves as a solid pillar for supporting economic and social development and meeting the strategic needs of the country. However, the current cultivation of professional graduate students in China still faces several challenges, primarily manifested in ambiguous training objectives, irrational curriculum design, and insufficient practical components. Based on this, this paper, combined with the practices of Henan Institute of Science and Technology, has carried out a series of reform explorations of the training model around the construction of the professional degree program in materials and chemical engineering, practice has shown that the implemented reform path have effectively enhanced postgraduate students' engineering practice and innovation abilities. Meanwhile, in response to the practical difficulties faced in the cultivation of professional postgraduate students, this paper systematically explores reform directions and practical pathways to enhance training quality and better meet the urgent needs of economic and social development for high-level talents.
