Abstract: With the advent of the Industry 4.0 era, the field of mechanical design faces dual challenges of technological innovation and industrial transformation. Traditional course Mechanical Design struggles to meet modern industry demands for interdisciplinary innovation and technical proficiency. This study explores curriculum optimization pathways and practice with artificial intelligence (AI) as the focal point. Firstly, the paper analyzes the competency standards and challenges in mechanical design education domestically and internationally. Secondly, the study examines the advantages of AI in dynamically updating curriculum content, optimizing teaching methods, and enhancing practical training. Finally, the study presents case studies from international institutions to demonstrate the practical outcomes of AI-powered curricula and proposes strategies for future reform and implementation. The findings indicate that AI technologies significantly improve the relevance and applicability of Mechanical Design education, offering new directions for cultivating highly skilled and innovative mechanical design professionals.
