Abstract: The rail transit industry is one of China's advanced equipment manufacturing industries that maintains innovation leadership globally. It has put forward higher requirements for the cultivation of innovation ability of professional graduate students. They not only need to be able to solve engineering problems, but also have certain basic scientific research capabilities. Therefore, it is necessary to integrate "science and education" with "industry education". This paper analyzes the current situation of cultivating professional graduate students from the aspects of curriculum system, practical activities, enterprise mentors, and quality evaluation. Starting from the background of the rail transit industry, a training plan for engineering innovation ability of rail transit graduate students under the "dual integration" education is proposed: on top-level design, we clarify the "dual integration" training objectives; on service demand, we revise the "dual integration" curriculum system; in practice and cultivating talents, we establish a professional practice base of "dual integration"; in accurate assistance, we optimize the platform for interactive training and cooperation between school and enterprise mentors. By adopting a "dual integration" training model, enhancing the innovation and practical abilities of graduate students majoring in rail transit can help solve the pain points and difficulties of enterprises, and maintain the innovation leading ability of China's rail transit industry.
