Abstract: Compared with traditional teaching, case-based teaching method combines theory with practice organically, which has become a hot topic in the reform of graduate teaching mode, especially helpful for the cultivation of practical problem-solving ability of professional degree graduate students. As the main cotton producing area in China, Xinjiang has limited exploration and application of cotton breeding cases. This article takes the course Research Progress in Agronomy and Seed Industry as an example to construct a typical case library of cotton breeding in Xinjiang and apply it to teaching practice. The results indicate that using case teaching can fully leverage the subjectivity of graduate students, cultivate cutting-edge breeding technology thinking in agricultural master's programs, and achieve the teaching goal of gradually improving students' knowledge, abilities, and literacy. The implementation of this case study has cultivated high-level professional talents for Xinjiang to cultivate high-quality, high-yield, stress tolerant and independently intellectual property rights cotton new varieties, and also provided reference and guidance for improving the teaching effectiveness and talent cultivation quality of professional master's degree graduate students.
