Abstract: Introduction to Earth Science is an important general course in the field of earth science, which plays a crucial role in cultivating general talents in earth science. In the context of the current era of interdisciplinary integration, earth science research has shifted from a single discipline to a multi-disciplinary, and comprehensive joint research field. Therefore, the teaching of course of Introduction to Earth Science should not only focus on rocks, minerals, and surface earth, but also focus on more comprehensive teaching of Earth System Science at the deep time, deep earth, deep sea, and deep space scales. Constructing a knowledge system for general education courses in Earth Science with Earth System Science as the main theme can not only effectively unify scattered and fragmented knowledge of Introduction to Earth Science, but also enable students to establish the concept of Earth System, arouse their interest in learning, cultivate their learning motivation, and equip them with the ability to integrate and intersect different branches of Earth Science.
