Abstract: Under the background of actively promoting the construction of a strong country in education, science and technology and a strong country in talents, improving the scientific research ability of undergraduates has become an important mission of higher education. This paper relies on the key laboratory resources of the School of Navigation, Northwestern Polytechnical University, and meets the needs of the times for the cultivation of high-quality talents, and systematically constructs and practices the "full-chain" scientific research ability training mechanism. Based on the national development strategy, this article explores the core role of key laboratories in the scientific research and training of undergraduate students. Relying on the unmanned underwater transportation technology platform, it designs a full-cycle capability improvement path covering "platform support – project guidance – process participation – outcome output", aiming to provide feasible experience and reference templates for the innovation of engineering education models and the cultivation of innovative talents.
