Abstract: As one of the most important organic reactions for constructing carbon-carbon bonds,aldolcondensation is widelyapplied infinechemicals,agrochemicals,pharmaceuticals,andmaterialsscience.Inthisarticle,theresearch progressin the preparation of high-carbon-number compounds via aldol condensation was systematically reviewed, the reaction mechanism and industrial applications were analyzed as wellas a specific case on the synthesis of methyl isoamyl ketone (MIAK). The design idea and development prospect ofhomogeneous catalysts, heterogeneous catalysts, especially amine functionalized heterogeneous catalysts were discussed in detail.
