Abstract： Competition in the traditional petroleumresinmarket is intensifying，and themarketdemandforhigh-end hydrogenated petroleum resins is increasing yearby year.In this article，the petroleum resin synthesis proceses and petroleumresin clasification were introduced.Main problems tobe solved for petroleumresin were discussed，as well as petroleum resin modification methods， it was pointed out that catalytic hydrogenation should be the most effective method for petroleum resin modification. Patents published in recent years were analyzed， means and methods to improve the performance of hydrogenation catalysts were summarized.The hydrogenation petroleum resin process was introduced，as well as disclosed patented new process methods， providing some reference for researchers in developing new ideas and new methods.
