Effect of Doped Iron Oxide on Activity of Pt/SDB Hydrophobic Catalysts

Abstract: Inorder to prepare Pt/SDBhydrophobiccatalysts with smallparticlesizeand high dispersion and reduce the cost of catalyst preparation, FeOx@SDB support wasobtainedby doping a small amount of FeOx on SDB support with solvothermal synthesis method,and then a series of Pt/FeO⋅x@SDB catalysts with different molar ratios (n) of platinum to iron were prepared by dipping-gas reduction method.Transmission electron microscopy (TEM),X-ray diffraction (XRD)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used to analyze the distribution and crystallzation state of Pt in catalysts.The effect of FeOx doping on the performance of SDB support was analyzed by contact angle measuring instrument and high-performance automatic mercury porosimeter. The results showed that doping a small amount of FeOx did notaect the hydrophobicityof the support,andcould increase the specific surface area ofthesupport,thereby improving the dispersion of Pt particles, significantly reducing the particle size of Pt ,and increasing the activity of the catalyst.Then,combined with the analysis of catalyst activity test data, when the molar ratio of platinum to iron (n) was 13,thehigh specific surface area ofthe support significantlyincreased the dispersion ofPtparticles,the average particle size of Pt in the catalyst decreased from 6.2nm to 3.1nm ,and the catalytic activityincreased from 23.00% to 32.73%
