Research on Ultrasonic Contact Pressure Testing Method for Electrical Connectors

Abstract: This study proposes an ultrasonic based contact pressure testing method for electrical connectors to address the shortcomings of traditional contact pressure testing methods,such as strong destructiveness and difficulty inreal-time monitoring.By analyzing the reflection and transmisson characteristics of ultrasound atthe contact interface,amappng relationshipbetween contactstifness and pressure is established,andan experimentalplatform is designed to test different specificationsof electrical connectors.Theexperimentalresults indicate that the contact pressuredecreases as the diameterof the socket decreases,and there isalsoacertain degreeof dispersion,which mayincrease theriskofcontact failure.Thecomparative verification with theresistance strain method shows that the results of the two methods are highlyconsistent, while the ultrasonic method has higher efficiencyand applicability in the testing of multi pin electrical connectors,providing a new non-destructive testing method for the reliability evaluationofelectricalconnectors.
