A Method for Detecting Optical-Path Interference in Passive Optical Networks

Abstract: Optical Network Unit (ONU) abnormal light emission in Passive Optical Networks (PON),commonly termed RogueONU,causes service disruptions andsignificantlyimpacts network stability.Toaddressthe limitations of existing interference detection methods,such as imprecise source localization and low processing eficiency,this study proposes a PON interference identification approach based on signal strength segmentation.By integrating signal strength segmentation with dynamic analysis,this approach achieves real-time identification and precise localization of interfering ONUs,substantially improving fault resolution efficiencyand network stability.It provides areliable technical solution for PON operation and maintenance.
