Historical Evolution of Tone System in Korean//JIANG Xianni

Abstract:Theresearchdeeplyexploresthe historicalevolutionprocessof Korean tonesystem,focusingonthechangesof tone featuresfrommedieval Korean tomodern YanbianKoreanandtheinteractionbetweenthem.YanbianKoreanretainsthe two-waytone oppositioncharacteristicsof MiddleKorean,andhastwotoneopposites,namelyhigh-pitched（H）andlow-pitched（L).However, thereareobviousdiferencesbetweenthemintonepaters.TonealterationinMiddleKoreanispredictable,hilethetoneofYanbianKoreanbelongstothelexiconinformationcategoryandisnotpredictable.Inadition,thetoneinteractionbetweendiferentmor phemes is also observed in Yanbian Korean.
