Determination of Methyl Parathion and Phorate Residues in Tomatoes by Headspace Gas Chromatography

Abstract: In response to the need for monitoring organophosphorus pesticide residues in tomatoes,a headspace gas chromatography (HS-GC) method was developed for the simultaneous determination of methyl parathion and phorate residues. By optimizing sample preparation procedures along with headspace incubation temperature,time,and saltingout conditions,eficient enrichmentand separation of the target compounds were achieved.The method exhibites good linearity in the range of 0.01~0.50mg/kg(R2>0.995) , with limits of detection (LOD) ranging from 0.003 5 to 0.0041mg/kg Spiked recovery rates range from 85.9% to 95.2% ,with relative standard deviations( SRSD )below 6% . The method is simpletooperate,demonstrates high stabilityandissuitablefortherapid determinationofmethylparathionandphorate residues in tomato samples.
