The Application Value of High-Performance Liquid Chromatography in the Detection of Benzoic Acid, Sorbic Acid, Acesulfame Potassium and Saccharin Sodium in Food

Abstract: To determine four food aditives,namely benzoicacid,sorbicacid,acesulfame potassiumand saccharin sodium i food by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC),thispaper establishes ananalytical procedure,and evaluates itsperformanceinrealfod matrics.IntheHPLCdetectionofbenzoicacid,sorbicacid,acesulfamepotssium and saccharin sodium in food, a C18 reversed-phase column was used,with a mobile phase system consisting of methanol and 2 mmol/L formic acid-20 mmol/Lammonium acetatebufer solution,and an isocratic elution program was implemented.Diferentpretreatmentsteps including degassing,protein precipitation,solid-phase extractionandsolvent extraction were caried out for liquid,semi-solid and solid samples.The method was validated for spiked recoveries and precision,and was applied to the detection of 6O real market samples.Results show thatthe average recoveries of benzoic acid, sorbic acid, acesulfame potassium and saccharin sodium at the addition levels of 5.0~100.0mg/kg are (2 88.2% .102.4% . In the real samples,at least one additive is detected in 39 samples,and the content of all additives in all samples does not exced the national standard limits.The HPLC method established inthis study is suitable forthe simultaneous detectionofbenzoic acid,sorbic acid,acesulfame potassum andsaccharinsodum invariouscomplexfood matrices,and has strong practicality,providing a basis for the supervision and evaluation of food additives.
