Theoretical Evolution of Marx's World History Thought and Contemporary Implications
—A Textual Examination Based on The German Ideology

Abstract: This paper argues that, through a critical analysis of the idealism and Eurocentrism in Hegel's philosophy of history, Marx, starting from “material production”, reconstructed historical materialism. On the one hand, he deconstructed the generative logic of world history through the dialectical movement between productive forces and forms of intercourse, pointing out that capitalist globalization, through spatial expansion and the logic of capital, has shaped a “center – periphery” hierarchical system. On the other hand, he analyzed the inherent contradictions of world history—namely, the coexistence of the liberation of productive forces with human alienation, and global integration with hierarchical oppression. The path to liberation beyond the logic of capital lies in the united action of the global proletariat, the global restructuring of relations of production, and mutual learning among civilizations. Marx's theory of world history not only provides theoretical weapons for criticizing anti-globalization and digital capitalism, but also lays the methodological foundation for the Chinese path to modernization and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
