On the Current Situation of College and University Students' Volunteer Service Participation in Rural Revitalization

—An Empirical Study of Chengdu Aeronautic Polytechnic University

Abstract: With the in-depth implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, college and university students, as a knowledgeable and dynamic youth group, are an important force in participating in rural revitalization. This paper takes students of Chengdu Aeronautic Polytechnic University as the research object and systematically analyzes, through questionnaire surveys and on-site interviews, their cognition, methods, motivations, and problems in participating in volunteer services for rural revitalization. The research finds that 97. 31% of college and university students highly recognize the importance of the rural revitalization strategy. Over 80% participate in services such as “poverty alleviation and relief” and “grassroots governance”, with most of these being short-term services lasting less than a day. Their participation motivations reflect a combination of personal development needs and a sense of social responsibility. At the same time, problems remain, including limited participation channels, poor professional matching, weak service sustainability, and monotonous activity content. To this end, this paper proposes optimization measures to improve the participation mechanism, upgrade service design, strengthen guarantee and incentive systems, and enhance identity cultivation, thereby providing practical references for the deeper integration of the two.
