Abstract:AsafoundationalcoursefortheChinese LanguageandLiteraturemajorinhighereducation,Modern Chineseisrichin ideologicalandpoliticalelements.Amongthem,theteachingojectivesof“AnItroductiontoChineseCharacters”aretohelpstudents understandwhatwritingsystemsareadowCinesecharactersorgiated,asellastograspteirharacteristsndfunctios.Cinse charactersplayauniqueroleinforgingastrongsenseofcommunityfortheChinesenation.Throughouttheir historicalevolution,the culturalessnceofChinesecharactershasremainedconstant,servingasthenduringsouloftheChinesenationalcommunityAsan ideographic writingsystem,theyembodyaunifiedmodeoftinking.Theirsquare-structuredforeflectsasenseofcolectivityTheir strongcapacitytodistinguishhomophones makesthemthemostsuitablewritingsystemforrecordingtheChineselanguage.TheirtranstemporalnatureindsCnesepeoplefroallregiostgetr.oreover,hrouhontiuousdevelopent,thyaveorganicallbsobe foreigncultures,embodying tepricipleofharmonyindiversity,andhavehelpedcountrieswithintheChinesecharacterculturalsphee actively construct their own national cultures.
