Abstract：Theterm“brother”isoneofthemostgeneralizablekinshipapelations.InacientChina，thischaracteristicunfldedat themacrolevelthoughtheinshipizatioofpoliticalrelatios.Specificall，tetionof“brotherlystates”，originallybeddinte patriarchalclansystem，integratedwiththe“allunderheaven（tianxia）”wordviewduringthepre-QinandHandynasties.Thisfusion gaverisetoacoceptionoftestateoerdistictfrotatofratyasedallanc，siultaneoslysapingasefcomuityforthe Chinesenation.Athemicrolevel，itmanifestedasthehomogenizationofindividuals，asevidencedbynotionssuchas“Allwithinthe FourSeasarebrothers”and“TheEasternand WesternSeassharethesame mindandprinciple.Theseideasconsistentlycounterbalanced Hua-Yidistinctios，thnoculturaoudarisandeoticzedimaginatiosofforeignands，erebyotiuallurturingtes inclusiveness of Chinese civilization.
