Abstract:Masonrywalsshow diferentfailuremechanismsunder blastloading compared toconventionalloads.Numerical simulationhasbecomeanimportanttoolformasonryblastresistanceresearch.Thispaperreviewsthetheoreticalfoundationsof numericalsimulationformasonrywalsunderblastloading,summarizesnumericalmethodsbasedonempiricalformulas,finite elements,andfluid-structureouplinganalyzesitegral,discrete,andmultisalemodelingaroaches,comparesLoadBlastALE, andimpulsemethodsforblastloadapplication,andintroducesvalidationtechniques.Resultsshowthatdiscretemodeling with interfaceelementsbeterreflectsmasonrycrackingbehavior,andtheimpulsemethodhaseficiencyadvantagesinnearfieldblast analysis.
