How Platform Algorithmic Control Shapes Gig Worker Participation：A COR Theory Perspective

Abstract：Focusing on the concept of platformalgorithmic control，based onthe Conservation of Resources Theory，introducing work self-efficacy as a mediating variableand platform support asa moderating variable，respectively，we exploredthe mechanismand boundaryconditions ofiplatformalgorithmiccontrol's influence on gigworker participation.And analyzedthethreetime-pointsof dataof 530gigworkers，the results show that：First，platformalgorithmic control hasa positiveeffect on gig workers'work self-efficacy. Second，work self-efficacy hasapositiveeffect on gig worker participation.Third，platformalgorithmic control increaseswork self-efficacy through increasing gig worker participation.Fourth，platform support strengthens the positiveinfluenceof platformalgorithmiccontrolongigworkers'workself-efficacy，and its positive indirect influence on gig worker participation throughwork self-efficacy.
