Research on Models and Pathways for Universities'Participation in Regional Collaborative Innovation ACase Studyof the Guangzhou Area

Abstract：AsacorecityintheGuangdong-HongKong-MacaoGreater BayArea（GBA），Guangzhou possessesabundant higher education resources，providing robust foundational research support for regional collaborative innovation.However，thedistinct categoriesofits universitiesilead tosignificant variations in their modesandpathways for participating inregional collaborative innovation.This study identifies fourprimary types of universities in Guangzhou：research-oriented，application-oriented，specialized，and vocationalcolleges.Theseinstitutions respectively functionasoriginators oforiginalinnovation，responders toinnovation demands，service providers for specialized industries，and enablers of innovative technologies，collectivelyformingawell-developednetwork forcollaborativeinnovation engagement.Nevertheless， Guangzhou's universities also face challenges，including institutional barriers hindering the efficient flow of inovation factors and structural mismatches between internal capabilities and external demands. Therefore，universities in Guangzhou must break institutional barriers throughlinnovation，bridge the transformationchainwith dedicated platforms，optimizetheflowofresources，and strengthen distinctive advantages through categorized development.By following collaborative innovation models such aslinter universitycollaboration，university-enterprisepartnerships，university-researchinstitutecoperation， anduniversity-governmentcoordination，theycandeeplyintegrateintotheregional collaborativeinnovation system.
