Abstract:AnnieBesant，asoneoftheleadersofthe modernIndiansocialreformmovement，holdsanimportantplaceinthehistory ofIndia’snatioalmovementHoweverbeyondhridentityasasocialrefoershewasalsosteadfastteosophist.Duringhrteue aspresidentofteIdianTeosopcalSociety，shedvocatedfortestablishmentof“aworldofuniversalbrotherod”andactielypa ticipatedintedevelopentofTeosohyndteosoicalovements.Intesofdogepromotedthdiversificatioadular zationfTheosophandtrengthneditsastereligiouselements.Intersofcialmovements，nniecariedoutaserisofosohcalactivities，includingeducatioalefo，thewoen’sigtsmovementandtheIdiannatioalindependencemovementAieBe sant'stheosopcaltoughtandteosopcalmovementsrepresentanorganicintegatioofEsteandWsteneligiousculureawel as a typical case of emergent Indian religious thought participating in modern social transformation.
