Abstract:BasedonZouLu’sworksandfirst-handChineseandJapanesehistoricalmaterals，thisstudysystematicalyanalyzes his threevisitstoJapanin1913-1914,928,and929,revealingthetripartitestructureofhisviewofJapan.Fst，Culturalapprciation: ZouLuexpresedsincerefodnessforJapan’saturalseneryonsencuure,ndChinesepoetrytraditionegardingthseeach Gardenanda“culturalioseond,olicallaceStartingithis913traslationofMnouSobuRon(Onheisposton ofManchuriandMongolia)，hemaintaiedhighsensititytowardJapan’sintentiontoinvadeChina.In1924，heconfrontedteJapanesescholarIrisawaTtsukichiwiththequestion，“AreyouhreforfriendshiporforivadingChina”，demonstratinghispoliticaljudg mentmeasuredbatioaliteestsidotioalotradictio:issdeersvealbothoxicatioithJasou tainlifeandanenduringinabilitytoscapeconcesforhisomeland’sfate,ultimatelysymbolizedbyhis“retuinghomeafterpainting onehundredorcds”,dicatigthathsulturalidentficatiocouldottransndtebottmlineofhslicalstan.ZouLu’svief Japanisnotastatic“pro-Japanese”or“anti-Japanese”postion,butratheradynamicbalancecenteredonnationalsurvival:acknowledgingJapan’svalueasa“sharedsipt”cultureiletoroughlyngatingtheageivelgicuderlyingits“sharedace”naaie.is cognitionofJapandifersbothfromtheromanticizedJapaneseimaginationofChneseliteratiwhostudiedinJapanandfromtheinstumntal strategyowadJaanofvolutioa，presetingtespiialtsioofmodCineintelalstwenculualitdplii cal animosity.
