Role of Combined Detection of Glycated Hemoglobin A1c and Fasting Blood Glucose in the Diagnosis of Type 2 DiabetesMellitus

TUQiaoxiang，WANGLiuxi Departmentof Laboratory，Fujian Tingzhou Hospital，Longyan3663Oo，Fujian，China [Abstract]ObjectiveToanalyzetheroleofcombineddetectionof glycatedhemoglobinAlcandfastingbloodglucoseinthediagnosis of type2diabetes melltus.MethodsAtotalof164 patients withsuspected type2diabetes mellitusinFujian Tingzhou Hospital from May 2023 toAugust 2025were selected.Allthe included subjectsunderwent combined detectionof glycatedhemoglobinAlcandfasting blood glucose.Taking theresultsof the glucose tolerance testasthegoldstandard，thelevelsof glycated hemoglobinAlcandfastingblood glucoseinconfirmedpatientsand undiagnosed patients were compared，and the diagnostic eficacy wascalculated.Results The glucose tolerance test showedthatatotalof 13O patients were diagnosedand 34patients were notdiagnosed.Thefasting blood glucose and glycatedhemoglobinAlcofthediagnosedpatients werehigher than thoseoftheundiagnosedpatients，andthediferences were statistically significant （all P <0.05）.There were 84 cases of true positive fasting blood glucose， 95 cases of truepositive glycated hemoglobin A1c，and126cases of true positive combined detection.The value of combined detectionwas higher than that of single detection，and the diferenceswere statisticallysignificant （all P <0.05）. Conclusion The combined detection of glycated hemoglobin Alc and fasting blood glucose，by integrating short-term andlong-term bloodglucose informationandcorrecting thedeviation ofa singleindicator，constructsathreedimensional frameworkforthediagnosisoftype2diabetes melitus.Itsclinicalvalueliesinimproving thediagnostic sensitivity，specificity，and accuracy.
