Influence of Etogliflozin Tablets Combined with Metformin on Glucose Metabolism Level and Pancreatic Islet Function in the Treatment of ElderlyPatientswith DiabetesMellitus Complicated withPulmonary Tuberculosis
XIE Cuiqin,WANGSongrong,LIUeen Quanzhou First Hospital Elderly Hospital,Quanzhou 362OOO, Fujian,China [Abstract]ObjectiveToexploretheefectof thecombinationofetogliflozintabletsandmetformininelderlypatients with diabetes melituscomplicated with pulmonary tuberculosis and its influence onglucose metabolismand pancreaticisletfunction.MethodsAtotalof118elderly patients with diabetes melltus complicatedwith pulmonary tuberculosis admitted to QuanzhouFirst Hospital fromJanuary 2O23 to March 2O24 were convenientlyselected.Participants were assigned toone of two treatment groups (59 per group):theconventional groupreceived metformin,whilethe observationgroupreceived etogliflozin tablets inadditionto metformin.The levelsof glucose metabolism,isletfunction and clinical efficacyof thetwo groups werecompared.Results After treatment,compared to theconventional group, the observation group demonstrated superior fasting blood glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose,glycated hemoglobin Alc,insulin resistance index,and pancreatic β⋅ -cell function index,and the diferences were statistically significant (all P<0.05 ). The clinical efficacy of the observation group was 98.31% (58/59), which was higher than that of theconventional group [84.75% (5O/59)],and the difference was statistically significant ( χ2 =6.993, P <0.05). Conclusion In elderly patients with diabetesmelitus complicated with pulmonary tuberculosis,thecombined treatment ofmetforminand etogliflozintablets has improvedboth glucosemetabolismand isletfunction,with bettr clinical efficacy.
