Effect of Nutritional Support on Prognosis of Patients with Diabetes Mellitus in ICU

DepartmentofCriticalCare Medicine，Dehua County HospitalinFujianProvince，Dehua 3625oo，Fujian，China [Abstract]Objective To exploretheapplicationand clinical efectof nutritionalsupport incomprehensiveICU intensivecare forcriticallyillpatientswithdiabetesmellitus.Methods FromApril2023 toDecember 2024，94patients withdiabetes mellituscomplicated withcritical illnessadmittedto ICUof Dehua County Hospital inFujianProvince wereconveniently selectedastheresearch objects.According tothediffrent nursing modesof patients，they weredividedinto observation group（ n =47）and control group（ n =47）.The control group was given routine nursing，and the observation group was given comprehensive ICU severe nutritional support.Fluctuating blood glucose indicators，nutritionalindicators，complicationrateandqualityoflifescores werecompared between thetwo groupsaftertreatment. ResultsAfter treatment，compared with thecontrol group，thecompliancerate of time inrange，standard deviationof blod glucose，mean amplitudeof glycemic excursion，meanof daily diffrence of theobservation group werereduced， and the differences were statistically significant （all P<0.05 ）.The hemoglobin，albumin，arm muscle circumference and triceps skinfoldof observation group were higher thanthoseof control group，the diferences were statisticallsignificant （all P<0.05 ）.The incidence of complications in observation group was lower than control group，and the difference was statistically significant （ P<0.05） . The quality of life scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group，and the differences were statistically significant （all P<0.05 ）.Conclusion For the critically ill patients with diabetesmelitus，ICU intensive nutrition supportcan efectivelyimprove the blood glucoseleveland nutritional status，reduce the incidence of complications，and improve the quality of life.
