The Diagnostic Effect of High-frequency Ultrasound Technology on Carotid Atherosclerotic Plaques in Elderly Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Wuwei Minqin CountyHospitalofTraditional Chinese Medicine，Wuwei 733399，Gansu，China [Abstract]ObjectiveTodiscuss theeffectandsignificanceof high-frequencyultrasound in theclinical examination anddiagnosisofcarotid atheroscleroticplaques inelderlypatients withtype2diabetesmelitus.MethodsAtotalof 86elderly patientswith type 2 diabetes melitusand suspected carotidatherosclerotic plaques in Wuwei Minqin County Hospitalof Traditional Chinese Medicine from August 2O23 to August 2O25 were conveniently selected as the research subjects.Conventional ultrasound technology and high-frequency ultrasound technology were used for diagnosis.Digitalsubtractionangiographytechnologywasadoptedasthegoldstandard，andthediagnosticefectsof difer entultrasound techniques were discussed.Results Among86 elderly patients with type2 diabetes melitus suspected ofhaving carotid atherosclerotic plaques，multiangiography examination showed that 66 patients had carotid atheroselerotic plaques （plaque group）and 20 patients did not have carotid atherosclerotic plaques （non-plaque group）.The diagnosticeficacyof high-frequencyultrasound technologywassuperior tothatofconventional ultrasound technology，and the differences were statistically significant （all P<0.05 ）.The diagnostic coincidence rates of high-frequency ultrasound technologywerehigherthanthoseofconventionalultrasoundtechnology，andthediferences werestatistically significant （all P<0.05 ）. The intima-media thickness in the plaque group was higher than that in the non-plaque group，and the differences were statistically significant （all P<0.05 ）.Conclusion Compared with conventional ultrasound technology，high-frequency ultrasound technologycan moreaccurately diagnose whether carotidatherosclerotic plaque lesions occur in elderly patients with type2diabetes melitus.Ithas high diagnostic accuracy，specificity and sensitivity，can diagnose the condition in a timely manner，and has a relatively high diagnostic coincidence rate.
