Effect of Epidural and General Anesthesia on Glycemic Control and Safety inType2DiabeticMellitusPatientswithLowerLimbFractures

Departmentof Anesthesiology，Qidong Hospitalof Traditional Chinese Medicine，Qidong 2262Oo，Jiangsu，China [Abstract]Objective To explore the application efectof epidural anesthesiaand generalanesthesiaonpatients with type 2 diabetes melitus complicated with lower limb fracture.Methods A total of8O patients with type2 diabetes mellitus complicated with lower limb fracture admitedto Qidong Hospitalof Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2023 to June 2O25 were selected and divided into control groupand study group according to different anesthesia schemes，with 40 cases in each group.Thecontrol group was given general anesthesia.The study group was given epidural anesthesia on the basis of general anesthesia.The blood glucose level，vital signsandadverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results The blood glucose levels at5min after induction，at the end ofoperation and2 hours afteroperation inthe study group were lowerthan those in thecontrol group，andthe diferences were statistically significant （all P<0.05 ）.Heart rate and central venous pressureat5 minafter induction and at the end of operation inthe study group werelower thanthose inthecontrol group，andthedifferences were statisticallysignificant （all P <0.05）.The incidence of adverse reactions of the study group was lower than that of the control group，and the difference was statistically significant （ P <0.05）.Conclusion Epidural anesthesia combined with general anesthesia is safefor patients with type2diabetes melitus complicated withlowerlimb fracture，withlessblood glucosefluctuation and more stable vital signs.
