Efficacy of Endoscopic Sinus Surgery with Stryker Power System in the Treatment of Elderly Patients with Diabetes Mellitus Complicated by Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps

HUANGWenyuan，NIAN Zhongzhu Department of Otolaryngology， Quanzhou First Hospital， Quanzhou 362OOo，Fujian，China [Abstract]ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical eficacy of endoscopic sinus surgery with Stryker power system inthe treatment of elderly patients with diabetes melitus complicated by chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps.Methods Atotalof11O elderly patientswith chronicrhinosinusitiswithnasal polyps complicated bytype2diabetes melitus admitedto Quanzhou First HospitalfromJanuary 2O23 toAugust 2O24 were enrolledas researchsubjects.According to different surgical methods，theywere divided into the control group（ n =52，conventional endoscopic sinus surgery） and the observation group n =58，endoscopic sinussurgery with Stryker power system）.The total effective rate of surgical treatment，perioperative blood glucose level，surgical indicatorswere compared between thetwogroups.Results The total efectiverateoftheobservationgroup was higherthan thatofthecontrol group，and the difference was statistically significant （ P <0.05）. There was no statistically significant difference in operation time between the two groups （ P >0.05）.The intraoperative blood loss in the observation group was lower than that in thecontrol group，and postoperative nasal ventilation time and postoperative mucosal recovery time were shorter than those in the control group， and the differenceswere statistically significant （all P <0.05）. The incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group was lower than that in the control group，and the diffrence was statistically significant （ P <0.05）. There were no statistically significant diffrences in fasting blood glucoseand 2-hour postprandial blood glucosebetween the two groups 1 day before surgery and 1 day after surgery （all P>0.05 ）. Conclusion The application of endoscopic sinus surgery with Stryker power systemcan reduce surgical trauma，decrease intraoperative blood loss and promoteearly postoperative recovery in elderly patients with diabetes melitus complicated bychronic hinosinusitis with nasal polyps.
