Application prospects of transgenic technology in Carassius auratus varieties improvement

Abstract：The ornamental fish market is booming，with an annual output value of over lO billion yuan in China . Carassius auratus ，as a traditional representative， has upgraded its demand and provided space for the application of genetically modified technology. As a significant base for farming Carassius auratus in northern China，Wen'an County，Hebei Province，has accumulated rich varieties and established a significant scale of production. With the booming development of the ornamental fish market， the Carassius auratus aquaculture industry in Wenan County is facing bottlenecks such as aging varieties， germplasm degeneration，declining profits，and outdated technology. Transgenic technology offers significant advantages and broad application prospects for precisely optimizing the ornamental value of Carassius auratus ， enhancing stress resistance， shortening breeding cycles，and conserving germplasm resources. However，the introduction and application of this technology encounter challenges including insuficient technical reserves，low public acceptance， ecological risks，and imperfect regulatory frameworks. To facilitate the scientific utilization of transgenic technology and promote the transformation and upgrading of the Carassius auratus industry in Wenan County，this paper systematically elaborates on the current research status and core methods of transgenic technology，identifies the current situation of Carassius auratus aquaculture in Wen'an County and the market demand. Furthermore， it proposes countermeasures from three aspects： technology，ethical environment，and regulatory frameworks，and analyzes the application prospects， aiming to contribute to the integration of economic， social，and ecological benefits in China's ornamental fish industry.
