Abstract:As such,this paper takes two themed works "Commemorating a Century of Xiling SealEngraving Society" and "PortraitsofthePioneersof Xiling SealEngraving Society",which were producedbyMr.Wu Yongliang forthecentenary celebrationofXiling Seal SocietyforresearchobjectBycomparisonof thedifferencesofcolorapplicationof their two artworks,itcomes toanunderstandingof theassociationofcolorand meaninginterpretationinMr.Wu’sworks,andthen furthermakes interpretationofhisviewsonartisticcreationandcolorbasedonthispoint.Theviewpointof thisstudyis thatthe transitionfrom‘usingcolours ascolours'to‘usingink ascolours'inthetwo worksisnotjustamateroftechnicalchange,but is theartisticchoice madebytheartistonthebasisofis profoundawarenessofthecreativeteme toexpressthespiritofcreative theme.Mr.From WuYongliang's practice,itcanbeseenthat thefunctionofapplicationofcolourintraditionalChinesepanting from‘depicting shapes’to‘forging artisticconception’haveundergone functional evolution,thus ofering areferencecase for understanding the Role of color in traditional Chinese painting.
