Abstract: China's economy is in a stage of rapid development, which has led to a steady increase in the demand for road transportation and further promoted the annual expansion of the scale of highway tunnel construction. China's highway tunnel construction has taken the lead in the world in terms of scale, quantity and growth rate. Due to the characteristics of tunnel closure, such areas often become the high-frequency occurrence sites of expressway accidents. In the event of an accident, such incidents often result in significant casualties and property losses. Despite the shortcomings in the construction of highway tunnels, the management model of tunnels shows rich and diverse characteristics, there is a gap in capital investment, and the supervision system and institutional level need to be further improved. These problems still exist significantly, and tunnel accidents occur frequently, with the accident rate gradually increasing. The reliance on tunnels in the field of transportation safety is gradually becoming a focus, and it is gradually becoming the central focus of attention in the field of transportation safety. Efforts to improve tunnel safety performance and ensure transportation safety have become particularly important. In order to strengthen the monitoring of traffic conditions in large and long tunnels on highways and ensure traffic safety in large and long tunnels, this paper introduces the highway holographic tunnel safety traffic early warning system from the aspects of strengthening vehicle information collection, event detection, safety monitoring, data statistics, etc. This system mainly includes equipment deployed at the front end tunnel entrance, inside tunnel, and tunnel exit, as well as a back-end holographic tunnel safety management system.
