Abstract: With global warming, the permafrost environment on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau has undergone significant changes, posing potential threats to the stability and durability of the Qinghai-Xizang Railway project. Based on long-term monitoring results and relevant research findings, this paper systematically analyzes the characteristics of permafrost environment changes, explores their impact mechanisms on engineering facilities such as subgrades, bridges, and culverts of the Qinghai-Xizang Railway, and assesses the risks faced by the project. The research shows that the increase in temperature leads to permafrost degradation, which causes diseases such as subgrade settlement, bridge foundation deformation, and culvert cracking, affecting the safety of railway operation. It is suggested to strengthen long-term monitoring, improve engineering design standards, and develop new protective technologies to ensure the long-term stable operation of the Qinghai-Xizang Railway in a changing environment.
