Analysis of Causes for Increased Catalyst Loss in Continuous Catalytic Reforming Unit and Corresponding Measures

Abstract: In view of the problems of increased catalyst dust generation and elevated catalyst loss in a 1.2 Mt·a -1 continuous catalytic reforming unit, which were primarily induced by factors such as rough inner walls of catalyst feed pipes, catalyst leakage at the top of the central tube sleeve inside the reactor, and deformation of sector tubes, a series of targeted technical measures were implemented, including sandblasting treatment of feed pipes, installation of vent hole caps, adjustment of sulfur injection dosage, modification of lift gas flow rate, regular cleaning of lift hydrogen filters, and optimization of the reaction hydrogen-to-oil ratio. Through application of these integrated measures, the catalyst dust generation was reduced from 10.0 kg·d -1 to below 6.7 kg·d -1, effectively curbing catalyst loss and ensuring the long-cycle stable operation of the unit.
