Coagulation-Air Flotation Treatment of Heavy Oil Produced Water and Its Simulation

Abstract: Taking produced water from heavy oil recovery as research object, simulation and coagulation-flotation experiments were carried out. The results showed that under the conditions of air-water volume ratio of 5.8% and inlet velocity of 2,m⋅s-1 , the volume fraction of air was more uniform, and the bubble size and rising velocity were moderate. The most suitable experimental coagulant was polyaluminum ferric silicate (PSAF) at mass concentration of 400,mg⋅L-1 , the coagulant aid cationic polyacrylamide (PAM) mass concentration was 10,mg⋅L-1 , the optimal hydraulic retention time (HRT) was 15 min, the air-water volume ratio was in the range of 5.5%–6.0%, the inlet velocity was 2.0,m⋅s-1 , the experimental results were consistent with the simulation results. After coagulation-flotation treatment, the turbidity removal rate was over 90%, the suspended solids removal rate remained around 95%, the oil content removal rate was 70%–85%, and the chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal rate exceeded 50%.
