Development of Highly Selective Catalysts for α-Methylstyrene Hydrogenation

Abstract: A series of modification methods were employed to treat the alumina support, and the active component palladium was loaded onto the support via impregnation to prepare the Pd/Al2O3 catalyst. The hydrogenation performance of α -methylstyrene by the Pd/Al2O3 catalyst was evaluated. The results showed that the modified alumina support exhibited moderate specific surface area, larger pore volume, significantly increased weak acid proportion, and uniform dispersion of palladium particles. Both the conversion rate of α -methylstyrene and the cumene selectivity could exceed 99%.
