Numerical Simulation and Analysis of Natural Gas-Hydrogen Blending Mixer Based on Venturi Effect

Abstract: In order to improve the hydrogen transportation efficiency and enhance the mixing uniformity of natural gas and hydrogen, based on Venturi effect, using a numerical simulation approach, taking methane and hydrogen as two kinds of working fluid, a new type of Venturi-style mixer model was construct, the mixing effect during the process of blending hydrogen into natural gas was investigated, and a comparative analysis was made with the traditional T-shaped tube. The results indicated that the variable-diameter Venturi tube could remarkably enhance the turbulent effect of hydrogen and improve the mixing uniformity. Moreover, at the same mixing distance, the higher the hydrogen blending ratio, the better the mixing effect.
